While much speculation has revolved around the possibility of House District 13 incumbent Reggie Fullwood facing a Democratic challenger in the August primary, the GOP side seems to be where the action is.
David Lee Robertson filed to run in HD 13 Monday, joining event promoter Darren Gardner in the Republican race in the predominately Democratic district.
We reached out to Robertson to get a sense of who he is and why he’s running.
Robertson, a resident of the Pottsburg Creek area who has been in the military for the last 23 years, describes this as a “last-minute decision” to take his “first stab” at office, the culmination of a quest for the “right opportunity to serve.”
His goal is “bringing the right kind of leadership” to House District 13.
While Robertson is not a “homegrown Republican,” and has had very little in the way of contact with the local GOP, the candidate isn’t letting his lack of political involvement faze him.
