Republican Rep. Bob Cortes picked up an endorsement from the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Central Florida wing in his re-election bid, his campaign announced Tuesday.
“I am honored to have this vote of confidence from ABC,” Cortes said. “I look forward to continuing to work with them on policies to lower taxes and get rid of the burdensome regulations that too often get in the way of a growing economy.”
Michael Dodane, the president of ABC’s Central Florida Chapter, said the group was “pleased” to endorse the incumbent Republican lawmaker and that Cortes shares “the concerns of the citizens and business owners” in House District 30.
Cortes has represented the Orange and Seminole county district since 2014, when he was elected over former Democratic Rep. Karen Castor Dentel with 51 percent of the vote.
The first-term Republican raised more than $12,000 in April for an on-hand total of about $104,000 putting him ahead of Ryan Yadav, who is so far the only other candidate in the toss-up race.
The Democratic attorney had about $75,000 in the bank at the end of March, mostly through loans to his campaign, but has yet to file his April report.
