AT&T announced Thursday that Alejandro “Alex” Dominguez will serve as its new director of external affairs for South and Southwest Florida.
In his new role, Dominguez will lead a team responsible for representing the telecom company with local governments in the region as well as with state lawmakers in Tallahassee. The role should prove natural for Dominguez, who has a long history in legislative and political affairs.
“I’m honored to be working in this new capacity for AT&T and look forward to working with local leaders in South Florida and Southwest Florida,” Dominguez said.
Before his new position, Dominguez worked as AT&T’s regional external affairs director for Miami-Dade County, and before joining the Fortune 100 company, he worked as the liaison between the Miami-Dade County Commission and the Miami-Dade County legislative delegation.
The Florida International University and Florida State University alumnus’ experience also includes stretches with nonprofit group Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba as director of fundraising, two years working for the Florida House as a district secretary and legislative fellow and a stint as an aide for longtime Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa.
