Report: Ron DeSantis will testify at IRS commissioner impeachment hearing

desantis, ron

Most Republicans would relish the chance to testify at the impeachment hearing for the IRS commissioner. Rep. Ron DeSantis will live that dream Tuesday.

The Hill reports that DeSantis and Jason Chaffetz will be witnesses at Tuesday’s hearing on alleged misconduct by Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen.

The report adds that the two Republicans “will present the findings of the Oversight Committee’s investigation into Koskinen’s behavior in relation to the political targeting controversy, in which the IRS gave heightened scrutiny to Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status.”

Chaffetz introduced a censure resolution on Koskinen last week, one he framed as a “precursor to impeachment.”

The testimony of the two congressmen, meanwhile, will presage a second Judiciary Committee meeting in June.
