State Sen. Darren Soto continues to sweep up endorsements for his campaign for Florida’s 9th Congressional District from Democratic colleagues in the Florida Legislature.
Soto’s campaign announced 19 more members of the Florida House of Representatives have signed on to support him in the Orlando-based CD 9 race, including Democratic Leader Designate Janet Cruz and local state Reps. Randolph Bracy of Orlando and John Cortes of Kissimmee.
The endorsements give Soto 30 House Democrats’ endorsements.
“Darren Soto understands our community and fights every day to protect our seniors, our environment, and our students,” Cortes stated in a news release issued by Soto’s campaign. “Darren fought for us in Tallahassee and got the job done. Once we elect him as our Congressman, he’ll go to bat for us in Washington too.”
Soto faces Susannah Randolph, Valleri Crabtree and Dena Minning in a Democratic primary to run in CD 9, all seeking to replace incumbent U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, who is running for the U.S. Senate.
The latest batch of endorsements also includes state Reps. Bobby Dubose of Fort Lauderdale, Dwight Dudley of St. Petersburg, Joseph Geller of Aventura, Mia Jones of Jacksonville, Shevrin Jones of West Park, Dave Kerner of Lake Worth, Larry Lee of Port St. Lucie, Kionne McGhee of Miami, Kevin Rader of Delray Beach, David Richardson of Miami Beach, Hazelle Rogers of Lauderdale Lakes, Irv Slosberg of Boca Raton, Cynthia Stafford of Miami, Richard Stark of Weston, Dwayne Taylor of Daytona Beach, and Alan Williams of Tallahassee.
