Termed-out Jacksonville Rep. Charles McBurney is in the running for a judgeship. In light of that, and vociferous opposition from the National Rifle Association, McBurney is asking for support from those who know him best.

McBurney points out “a vacancy on the Circuit Court here in the 4th Judicial Circuit (Duval, Nassau and Clay counties) due to the appointment of Judge Harvey Jay to the First District Court of Appeals in Tallahassee” before noting that “friends and supporters — including current members of the Judiciary as well as colleagues in Florida House of Representatives — encouraged me to apply for this vacancy.”

McBurney’s ask: “to email, call or snail mail the Governor’s office and [inform] him of how we are acquainted (JC, legal, civic, religious, personal). I would also encourage you to share why you feel I am the most qualified candidate.”
