Charlie Crist already polling race vs. David Jolly?

Democrat Charlie Crist appears to be polling how he matches up in a potential race against Republican David Jolly.

Crist is running for Florida’s 13th Congressional District which is currently held by Jolly, who is, as of this moment, still running for the U.S. Senate. After the seat was redrawn to undo Republican gerrymandering, CD 13 tilts Democratic. Recognizing this, Jolly chose to forego running for re-election.

However, as Adam Smith of the Tampa Bay Times posits today, it “looks more like David Jolly is preparing to run for another term in his Democratic-leaning congressional district in Pinellas County than stick with his U.S. Senate campaign.” (By the way, one of Smith’s best sources is Jolly’s media consultant, Adam Goodman.)

Sensing Jolly may be ready to fight for his seat, Crist has (probably) started gaming out what a campaign against Jolly would look like.

On Monday, this writer received a robo-poll survey from Public Policy Polling that ballot tested Crist vs. Jolly. Crist used PPP earlier this year to help push Eric Lynn out of the Democratic primary, so it’s probable he’s using it again to see where he stands versus Jolly.

For the record, I self-identified as a 65+ Republican woman who voted for Mitt Romney in 2012 and would vote for Crist.
