Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry pitched his pension-tax referendum to the Northeast Florida Builders Association Wednesday.
A day later, NEFBA’s unconditional and unanimous support for the Aug. 30 plebiscite came through via a press release.
“We appreciate Mayor Curry’s leadership on this important issue. After hearing his presentation today, we are more committed than ever to support this effort. In fact, our Board passed a resolution of support unanimously”, said 2016 NEFBA President Chet Skinner in a press release.
“Every registered voter living in Duval County will have the Pension Surtax question on their ballot. A ‘yes’ vote will make a solution that much closer to being a reality,” said NEFBA Executive Officer Corey Deal. “We are pleased to stand with the Mayor and the City Council to support this important plan.”
The Jax Daily Record reports NEFBA also is donating $10,000 to the marketing effort.
NEFBA was one of many professional organizations that backed Curry in the 2015 election.
At the time, Curry’s opponent Bill Bishop claimed the vote was in favor of supporting him in the election, but that decision was overriden.
