Senate District 18 candidates Dana Young and Bob Buesing’s fundraising numbers for June 1-24 shows both candidates received significant cash infusions from one particular source.
In the case of Young, it was the $25,000 she received from the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Meanwhile, Buesing has contributed $24,000 of his own cash to his campaign.
Overall, Young has raised over half a million dollars — $526,326 in the campaign. Buesing, who just entered the race in early May, has raised $129,838.
However, Young also raised more than $122,000 in her super PAC, “Friends of Dana Young,” in June. That account now has more $856,000.
“She will always have more money than me,” Buesing said when asked how he would able to compete financially against Young, who has served in the Florida House since 2010. “I will have enough money to get my message out,” he insists.
Adult impresario Joe Redner, who just entered the race last week, contributed $5,000 to his campaign, the only donation he lists for June.
Independent candidate Sheldon Upthegrove does not list any contributions.
SD 18 encompasses western Hillsborough County, extending from MacDill Air Force Base north to Pasco County.
