Consumers for Smart Solar spent more than $80,000 in June, despite another slow fundraising month.

State records show backers of the solar-energy ballot initiative raised $5,000 from June 1 through June 24. The single donation came from the Hispanic Council for Reform and Educational Options. The three-week fundraising period marked the second slow fundraising period in a row.

The group spent $83,984 in the three-week fundraising period, mostly on consultants. In May, the group spent more than $6.5 million on ad buys.

Consumers for Smart Solar has raised more than $15.7 million, and had more than $1.9 million cash-on-hand at the end of the fundraising period.

The amendment, which is supported by the state’s major electric companies, is on the November ballot. It needs 60 percent of votes cast to pass.
