House District 11, encompassing eastern Duval County and Nassau County, is a conservative district. And Sheri Treadwell has a conservative message in her first TV ad this cycle.
The ad, called “Conservative,” is a 30-second spot that hits Treadwell’s campaign themes, which include opposition to “Obama’s liberal policies … illegal immigration and overspending.”
Though it’s uncertain how Treadwell, who would be in the Florida House next year if elected, would be able to counter “Obama’s liberal policies” or “illegal immigration” on the federal level, that nonetheless is the contention of the ad.
The ad’s appeal is predicated on the optics of Treadwell’s family around her, complete with a child on a swing set in an archetypal suburban scene, as Treadwell explains her reasons for running.
“Why am I a candidate? That’s simple. My kids,” Treadwell said.
“Our children deserve a strong America. This year, it’s up to us,” Treadwell concluded.
The ad describes Treadwell as a “faithful conservative,” a phrase that likely will be followed up with mailers to drive that semiotic message home before Aug. 30.
