Leslie Jean-Bart expands money lead in HD 14 Democratic scrum

Leslie Jean-Bart

HD 14 Democrat Leslie Jean-Bart has all the momentum in that crowded Democratic primary right now.

This month, she’s been endorsed by incumbent Mia Jones. She scored the AFL-CIO endorsement also. And, as of her latest campaign finance report, she still has $70,000 in the bank.

Though Jean-Bart only raised $3,200 between June 24 and July 8, she still came out of the period better than she entered it, only having spent $2,800.

Most of that spend went to Campbell Communications to “design and print literature.”

The other candidates in the race — former state legislators Terry Fields and Don Gaffney, former Jacksonville City Councilwoman Kim Daniels, and retired teacher Gracie McCastler — have between them roughly $53,000 on hand.

Though none of them have filed for the period between June 24 and July 8 yet, they will need to show momentum on those fundraising reports, which are due Friday.
