St. Johns County Commissioner Bill McClure, one of many vying for the Republican nomination in Florida’s 4th Congressional District, has raised $450 so far in the campaign through Jun. 30, with $250 of itemized contributions.
He’s running his operation off of a $100,000 personal loan, and he still has $83,895 on hand, after spending $16,554 thus far.
The Federal Election Commission website, at this writing, has not yet processed his specific expenditures or the source of the $250 of itemized contributions.
What is clear, however, is that McClure’s message, notable mainly for his opposition to Jacksonville’s proposed sales tax referendum, doesn’t seem to be resonating with the donor class.
McClure has a long way to go to get traction: primary opponents Hans Tanzler and John Rutherford both have significant operating capital, with $556,000 and $373,000 totals raised during the same period McClure brought in $450.
