Most incumbents facing primary competition can count on a little help from their friends. And State Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto is no exception.

Benacquisto is running for re-election in Southwest Florida’s Senate District 27, facing Republican Jason Maughan in the Aug. 30 primary.

An interesting donor of late: “Working for Florida’s Families,” the political action committee of Sen. Rob Bradley, which is still active despite Bradley facing no competition.

Of the over $50,000 Bradley’s committee has spent in the last two weeks up until July 29, $5,000 of it went to Benacquisto’s political committee, “Protect Florida’s Families.”

Despite this spend, Bradley’s committee has over $325,000 on hand.

Meanwhile, as of July 22, Benacquisto’s committee is doing even better, with $430,000 on hand.
