Eric Lynn and Ben Diamond, the two Democrats running for the House District 68 seat in Pinellas County, have agreed to participate in their one and only one-on-one debate before the Aug. 30 primary.

It will be broadcast live on WMNF 88.5 FM in Tampa, on the station’s MidPoint program this Thursday, Aug. 25 at noon, to be moderated by this reporter.

Other than a June Suncoast Tiger Bay forum (where they appeared with Republican HD 68 candidate JB Benshimen), the candidates have not engaged in a traditional debate, though they have appeared together at various neighborhood association events.

In early July, Diamond announced he was challenging Lynn to as many as five to seven debates he hoped the two could engage in before the Aug. 30 primary. Although Lynn immediately accepted the challenge, a communications breakdown resulted in nothing being scheduled between the two Democrats — until now.
