Not every candidate the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police endorsed won on Tuesday.

Angela Corey lost by a more than a 2-to-1 margin in her race for re-election as 4th Circuit State Attorney.

Donnie HornerDick Kravitz, and Terrance Freeman lost their races for the state House.

It remains to be seen if Mark Hulsey won his race for judge or not.

But their endorsed candidates did score big in some races.

Charlie Cofer won the race for 4th Circuit Public Defender. Al Lawson and John Rutherford won their races for Congress. Kim Daniels is going to Tallahassee. And, as if there were doubt, Ronnie Fussell was nominated for re-election as clerk of court.

With that in mind, some positive words from the FOP … via a Facebook post Wednesday morning.

“Having endorsed seven of the winners below and seeing County Referendum 1 passed is strong indication that the citizens of Jacksonville Back the Blue and we’ve heard you loud and clear! We will continue to work hand-in-hand with our member agencies to make Jacksonville a safer place to live. Thank you Mayor Curry for your leadership and your vision,” the FOP posted, before pivoting into a discussion of the blowout in the race for state attorney.

“Ms. Corey, your eight years of outstanding performance will never be forgotten and we know that your commitment to our community did not end last night. We are proud of you and we look forward to working with you and maintaining the high standard that you’ve set,” the FOP added, before offering “State Attorney-elect Melissa Nelson a sincere congratulations. Our members and our community have extraordinary expectations for the office that you are about to assume. We wish you well and are committed to continuing to provide excellent service to our community so that your office has a strong foundation on which to operate,” the FOP added.
