Democratic committee pulls ad time in Florida’s U.S. Senate race

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is canceling another week of television ad buys in support of Florida U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy.

The committee on Friday canceled ads it had reserved in Florida for the week of Oct. 4. It previously canceled ads reserved in September.

That’s bad news for Murphy, who is hoping to unseat Republican Sen. Marco Rubio. The committee still has ads reserved for the last three weeks of the campaign but could pull them and put the resources in states where ad time is less expensive and where Democrats have a better chance of winning.

Democrats are trying to regain a majority in the Senate, and the DSCC has shifted resources from states like Florida and Ohio to races in North Carolina and Missouri.
