Betsy VanderLey has won the endorsement of the International Drive Chamber of Commerce in her bid to win a seat on the Orange County Commission in the Nov. 8 election.
The chamber picked VanderLey over her opponent, Bobby Olszewski, for the District 1 seat covering western Orange County.
“The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors believes Betsy VanderLey is the most qualified candidate for District 1 and her leadership will best serve the needs of the International Drive Resort Area and our tourism industry,” Chamber President Maria Triscari stated in a news release issued by VanderLey’s campaign.
Since 1988, the International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce has sought strong relationships with both Orlando city and Orange County government officials. The result has been numerous projects for the International Drive Resort Area including beautification projects, enhanced signage, and zoning to maintain International Drive as a family-friendly destination.
The endorsement continues VanderLey’s success in winning over many of the major establishment business groups in Orange County including the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association, Orlando Regional Realtor Association, Greater Orlando Builder Association and Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Orange County Farm Bureau.
“I am honored to have their endorsement and deeply appreciate their recognition of my experience and the years of leadership service I have given to our community,” VanderLey stated in the release.
