Prosecutors have concluded no crime was committed when primary vote results were posted online in Broward County before polls closed.
It is a felony to release results before polls close. Prosecutor Tim Donnelly wrote in a memo released Wednesday there was no evidence of intent to commit a crime and that the early posting was a mistake.
Contractor VR Systems took responsibility for posting results of early voting and absentee ballots on the Broward Supervisor of Elections website about 30 minutes before polls closed Aug. 30. Donnelly wrote that those involved have promised to ensure it does not happen again.
The error caused a server crash that delayed posting of final Broward primary results for several hours.
Most Florida counties use VR Systems as an election contractor.
