Ducks Unlimited plates for Florida vehicles may be coming soon

Ducks Unlimited

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck. And pretty soon, it might be on a Florida license plate.

A bill filed by Northeast Florida State Senator Aaron Bean may lead to more money for wetlands conservation, via a specialty license plate for Ducks Unlimited.

Ducks Unlimited, a non-profit environmental conservation organization with a focus on duck populations and combating the loss of wetlands, may be joining the panoply of specialty license plates.

The organization aggressively works to “educate lawmakers” and “establish productive relationships” with lawmakers in Washington and Tallahassee alike.

The words “conserving Florida wetlands” would appear at the bottom of the plate, which will cost $25.

95 percent of proceeds will go toward “the mission and efforts of Ducks Unlimited, Inc., for the conservation, restoration, and management of Florida wetlands and associated habitats for the benefit of waterfowl, other wildlife, and people.”

Bean tells us that this had been introduced in a previous session, and it didn’t make it, which “disappointed” Ducks Unlimited.

Time will tell whether this bill gets through on its second pass.
