Jessica Cary, a former Department of Corrections communications director, is now communications coordinator for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen announced the hire Wednesday. Cary will work with longtime FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger in FDLE’s main Tallahassee headquarters.
She replaces the retiring Steve Arthur in the agency’s press office.
Cary “will serve as FDLE spokesperson and will be responsible for coordinating news releases, interviews, press conferences and internal communications,” Swearingen said.
Cary has more than 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors, most recently as development director for Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
She also was membership and media relations coordinator for the Florida Association of Community Health Centers and has managed a small business, according to a press release.
Cary has an undergraduate degree in English from Florida State University and received an APR designation for being accredited in public relations by the Florida Public Relations Association.
