The search for a new CEO for JaxPort has commenced, reads a letter from Jim Citrano, chairman of the board of directors, to various stakeholders.
The previous CEO, Brian Taylor, resigned with little forewarning earlier in the month.
Taylor had irked board member John Falconetti for, among other reasons, not attending two board meetings in the previous year, reports First Coast News.
Citrano wrote Thomas Crowley of Crowley Maritime, James Dillman of Diversified Port Holdings, Stephen Taylor of AMPORTS, and Tim Nolan of TOTE Maritime.
Citrano thanked them for their “interest and concern about the search” for a new CEO, noting that while the JaxPort Charter defines the process, “it would be foolish not to reach out to [them] for valuable input and advice.”
To “avoid our sunshine restrictions,” Citrano said he would be the point of contact for interested parties.
The letter was CC’d to Gov. Rick Scott, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, and members of Curry’s inner circle.
No timetable was given for the search in the letter, though Citrano asked his correspondents for names of qualified candidates and search agencies.
Eric Green, a longtime JaxPort Senior Director of Government Affairs, serves as the interim CEO.
The last time JaxPort had an interim CEO, he was appointed in Dec. 2012 and served until July 2013
