Gwen Graham better watch her six

graham, gwen - face

It would appear Gwen Graham had a wonderful time on the Fourth of July, carrying on the family tradition of marching in the Lynn Haven Red, White and Blue Parade.

“We are going to celebrate our nation’s independence with plenty of hugs along the parade route,” Graham told FloridaPolitics.com ahead of Independence Day. And based on her Facebook posts, it looks like her mission of hugging as many parade-goers as possible was accomplished.

Gwen Graham is joined by her campaign supporters at the Lynn Haven Red, White and Blue parade on July 4, 2017.

But now that the holiday is over, Graham better watch out.

Why?

Because Adam Smith, the political editor at the Tampa Bay Times, just jinxed her.

Naming her last week’s “Winner of the Week in Florida politics,” Smith declared the former U.S. Representative “the clear frontrunner for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.”

Graham would have better luck if a black cat had crossed her path while she was walking in that July 4th parade rather than have Smith identify her as the 2018 frontrunner.

After all, it was less than a month ago that Smith wrote that Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum was the Democratic frontrunner. No sooner had Smith wrote that Gillum was the party’s “best hope” before the wheels started to come off of his nascent campaign.

And that was before the FBI came to Tallahassee.

(By the way, has Smith written anything about Gillum since the “best hope” column? If not, why not? Why not at least a blog post walking back that silly statement?)

So now that Smith has painted a bullseye on Graham’s back, she might want to knock on wood, throw salt over her shoulder or whatever else can think of to ward off Smith’s jinx.

Good luck, Gwen.

Gwen Graham is definitely a real contender, where as Gillum’s best days were when he was the only announced candidate.
Neither will have much of a chance once John Morgan announces his candidacy for Governor.
