Wesley Chapel Republican Mike Moore added another endorsement Wednesday for this re-election campaign to the Pasco County Commission.
West Central Florida Police Benevolent Association President Nick Marolda added his name to the list of backers, among them Pasco Clerk of the Court Paula O’Neil and Sheriff Chris Nocco, pushing for Moore to get a second term on the commission.
“The West Central Florida Police Benevolent Association is proud to inform you of our endorsement for your candidacy for Pasco County Commissioner, District 2,” Marolda said. “We will ask our members, their families and friends and all citizens in the district who respect the strong and efficient enforcement of our laws, cast their ballots in support of Mike Moore.”
Moore was first elected to the Pasco County Commission in 2014, and filed for re-election to another four-year term on the commission back in April.
“I am honored by the endorsement of the West Central Florida Police Benevolent Association,” Moore said. “Their members, the women and men in our community who serve and protect us each and every day, have earned and deserve our respect and gratitude. I am humbled to have their support, and the support of their families, who also sacrifice greatly, to keep Pasco County safe and sound.”
Currently, Moore’s only obstacle for re-election is Democrat Kelly Smith, whom he has built a massive advantage over on the fundraising trail, thanks in part to his friends in Republican state politics who have helped him raise money for his second term.
Outside of the commission, which he currently chairs, Moore runs a small business and holds a seat on many state boards, including the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority and the Dependency Drug Treatment Court Planning Steering Committee.
