Get your checkbooks ready for this week’s legislative fundraisers

Session begins Tuesday, PAC chairs and Tallahassee uber-lobbyists, so get your checkbooks ready for last-minute fundraisers for legislators and candidates scheduled before the gavel drops.

On Monday, state Sen. Annette Taddeo will be fundraising at the Governors Club, Library Room beginning 11:30 a.m. Taddeo is seeking her second term in Senate District 40.

The Governors Club is at 202 S. Adams St. in Tallahassee.

Later that day, state Sen. Dana Young will hold an event at 4 p.m. in the Governors Club Capital Room. Young is seeking another term in Tampa’s SD 18.

On the House side, Adams Street Advocates will be holding a reception to support state Reps. Manny Diaz Jr. and Jeanette Nunez beginning 4 p.m. in front of the Adams Street Advocates office, 205 S. Adams St. in Tallahassee. Diaz is running for re-election in Miami-Dade’s HD 103; Nunez is seeking another term in Miami-Dade’s House District 119.

At 5 p.m., Adams Street Advocates will hold a second event, this time for House Speaker-Designate Jose Oliva, Leader Ray Rodriguez and Rep. Brian Avila. Olivia is seeking re-election to Miami-Dade’s HD 110; Rodriguez is running for another term in Lee County’s HD 76; Vela is running again in HD 111, also part of Miami-Dade County.

State Reps. MaryLynn Magar and Travis Cummings will be holding a joint fundraiser beginning 5 p.m. at the Governors Club Library Room. Cummings is running for re-election in Clay County’s House District 18; Magar is seeking another term in Palm Beach County’s HD 82. Hosting the event are House Speaker Richard Corcoran, Speaker-Designate José Oliva, state Reps. Chris Sprowls and Paul Renner.

Also at the Governors Club at 5 p.m. is Rep. Shawn Harrison, seeking another term in Hillsborough County’s HD 63. Hosting Harrison’s event are Corcoran, Oliva, Sprowls and Renner.

State Reps. Robert “Bobby O” Olszewski, Daniel Perez and newly elected Lawrence McClure will be fundraising beginning 5 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton, 101 S. Adams St. in Tallahassee. Olszewski is running for Orange County’s HD 44; McClure is running for re-election in Hillsborough’s HD 58; Perez will be seeking another term in Miami-Dade’s HD 116.

Later that afternoon, Reps. Jayer Williamson, Cord Byrd, Erin Grall, Jamie Grant, Byron Donald and Frank White will be joint fundraising starting 5:30 p.m. at the Southern Public House, 224 E College Avenue in Tallahassee. Williamson is running for re-election in the Okaloosa/Santa Rosa County HD 3; Byrd is seeking another term in Nassau County’s HD 11; Grall is searching for another term in Indian River County’s HD 54; Grant is running again in the Pinellas/Hillsborough HD 64; Donalds is running again in Hendry/Collier County HD 80. White, who currently represents Escambia and Santa Rosa County’s in HD 2, is running for Florida Attorney General.

Then, at 7 p.m., Florida Senate Democrats will hold a Drink, Drop & Dash at the Governors Club Library Room.

On Tuesday, state Sen. Denise Grimsley will be holding a 7:30 a.m. fundraiser in her bid for the state’s Agriculture Commissioner at Florida Financial Strategies, 111-B East College Ave. in Tallahassee. Hosting Grimsley’s event is Senate President Joe Negron, President-Designate Bill Galvano and Majority Leader Wilton Simpson.
