The Latin Builders Association endorsed Gov. Rick Scott for Senate Friday in Coral Gables, lending the imprimatur of a group 7,500 members strong.
Per a statement from the Scott campaign, tax cuts and the elimination of so-called “burdensome regulations” drove the endorsement.
Eric Montes de Oca, President of the Latin Builders Association, lauded “Scott’s commitment to creating jobs, cutting taxes and bolstering our state’s business climate has propelled Florida’s economy forward, which has helped grow a booming housing market and welcome millions of new residents to our state.”
“The Latin Builders Association and our 750 member companies know that Governor Scott will continue to fight for jobs across the state, including within the construction industry – which is essential to our economy and to our families in South Florida. We are proud to offer our support of Governor Rick Scott’s campaign for U.S. Senate.” Montes de Oca added.
Scott has enjoyed a political symbiosis with the Latin Builders for most of his political career, including board appointments for members and speaking at an awards ceremony, so the endorsement wasn’t exactly a surprise.
