Democrats slam Ron DeSantis as Trump ‘apprentice’ in latest ad

Desantis quit

Most voters with any degree of sentience know by now that Ron DeSantis is President Donald Trump‘s preferred candidate for Governor.

But if they are somehow unaware, the Florida Democratic Party offered a refresher Tuesday, with a new ad (“Apprentice”), designed to spotlight “DeSantis’ “destructive” and Trumpian campaign for Governor.”

“Ron DeSantis is running one of the most dishonest and divisive campaigns in modern Florida political history. Just like Donald Trump, DeSantis is using lies, conspiracies, and ugly dog whistles to shamelessly divide Floridians and hide his own scandals,” said FDP spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.

“Ron DeSantis’ campaign aims to please one person: Donald Trump — and that’s why Floridians are rallying to Mayor Andrew Gillum’s optimistic and substantive vision for Florida,” Donohoe contends.

The ad juxtaposes sound of Trump cooing that DeSantis is “extraordinary” with jump cuts and sound designed to make the Republican gubernatorial nominee sound like a Trumpian fabulist.

It all builds to images of DeSantis’ face melding into the President’s, then a “Defeat Trump … Defeat DeSantis” close.
