Since filing to run in Jacksonville City Council District 14 in late 2017, Republican Randy DeFoor has led the money race.
DeFoor’s fundraising did not slow down in her most recent reporting period.
From Jan. 26 to Feb. 8, the Fidelity Senior Vice President raised just over $19,000, her best report since Fall 2017.
The candidate now has $144,000 in hard money (of almost $195,000 raised). She also has almost $26,000 in her political committee, Safe and Prosperous Jacksonville.
Among the most recent donors: lobbyist Marty Fiorentino and J.B. Coxwell Contracting.
Democrat Sunny Gettinger, the only other candidate with $100,000 cash on hand in her last report (another is due Friday), spent some of her bankroll with a digital ad buy this week.
The My Story spot clocks in at 2:08, and serves as a narrative introduction to the candidate.
“When I got into this race, I knew that we needed a city council that worked for us – from protecting our families, strengthening our economy, and making it easier for people to work, live and play in our amazing city,” said Gettinger.
“Over the last 14 months, I have talked with thousands of residents about the work that needs to be done, and how we get there. I am so proud to be releasing this video so every resident of the district can share in our vision for our community, and join our campaign to make it a reality. I look forward to continuing to work hard over the next few weeks to earn every vote ahead of the March election,” Gettinger added.
While DeFoor and Gettinger lead the field, there are strong indications that this will go to a May runoff.
Both Democrat Jimmy Peluso and Republican Henry Mooneyhan have active campaigns, though at ~$40,000 on hand and ~$7,000 on hand, ground game will determine whether they advance or not.
