New lobbying compensation reports show Capital City Consulting could have earned as much as $4.3 million in pay during the second quarter of 2019.
The disclosures show the firm earned up to $2.4 million through legislative branch lobbying and up to $1.9 million more lobbying the Governor and Cabinet.
The team of Nick Iarossi, Ron LaFace, Jim Boxold, Justin Day, Megan Fay, Kenneth Granger, Dean Izzo, Ashley Kalifeh, Andrew Ketchel, Daniel Newman, Scott Ross, Christopher Schoonover and Gerald Wester earned that sum across 151 contracts.
Sitting atop the legislative compensation report is management consulting firm North Highland Company, which paid between $40,000 and $50,000 for representation during the reporting period.
It was followed by a dozen principals that paid between $30,000 and $40,000 for the quarter, including health insurer Aetna, gambling outfit bestbet Jacksonville and utility company Florida Power & Light.
Another 18 contracts weighted in at up to $30,000, followed by 45 in the $20,000 bracket and 50 more in the up-to-$10,000 range.
The Special Committee for Healthcare Reform topped the executive compensation report with $65,000 in pay between April 1 and June 30.
DentaQuest and Fire Safe Florida PC followed at $50,000 with Tallahassee Retail Ventures paying between $40,000 and $50,000 for CCC’s help plying the executive branch.
Florida lobbyists report their pay in ranges covering $10,000 increments up to $50,000, after which they must report the exact amount of pay they received.
CCC’s maximum earnings estimate is based on the top dollar in those ranges. If their clientele paid the middle number of their reported ranges, the firm would have earned about $3.1 million — that is, $1.8 million via legislative lobbying and $1.3 million via executive lobbying.
Compensation reports also list overall compensation ranges with the top end being $1 million. CCC reported earning no less than $1 million on each report.
The Q2 numbers match what the firm posted during the first three months of the year. The Tallahassee-based firm is also on pace to outperform their overall haul for 2018, which measured in at $10.3 million using median figures and $14.8 million using maximum figures.
Capital City Consulting is one of a half-dozen Florida lobbying firms that consistently rakes in more than $1 million a quarter.
Florida lobbyists and lobbying firms must name their clients when they sign lobbying agreements and must report their earnings from each client on a quarterly basis. Reports for the second quarter are due Aug. 14.
