Some good news for anyone fleeing the state to get away from Hurricane Dorian over the next few days. The Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia is offering free admission to evacuees over Labor Day weekend.

“We understand that being away from home during a storm like this comes with a lot of emotions, including frustration, anxiety, fear, and even boredom,” said Molly Deese, vice president and general manager of the theme park. “We hope that opening our doors to our Florida neighbors this weekend will help provide some moments of relief and fun as they seek shelter.”

Free admission applies to Florida residents who live in counties where voluntary or mandatory evacuations have been ordered. Qualifying residents must show proof of residency to obtain free admission to the park.

Wild Adventures is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. Splash Island Waterpark, which is included in the deal, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Anyone traveling to Valdosta through Labor Day weekend can obtain buy-one-get-one admission if they donate food to assist in hurricane recovery efforts.

“Throughout the weekend, we will also be accepting food donations for Second Harvest of South Georgia to help stock their food pantry shelves,” Deese said.

Qualifying food donations must be valued at least $10 and are good for a single-day admission with the purchase of a full-price ticket.

First responders can also visit either of the two parks for free throughout the holiday weekend with a valid employee ID or pay stub.

Wild Adventures Theme Park is located at the halfway point between Atlanta, Ga. and Orlando. It features more than 40 family and thrill rides, hundreds of exotic animals, dozens of concerts and special events each year. Splash Island Waterpark was named in 2018 as one of the “Top 30 Waterparks” in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Wild Adventures is ranked as the Fifth Most Affordable Theme Park in America in the Theme Park Price Index published by HomeToGo and the Top Theme Park Deal in Georgia by Yahoo! Finance.

Regular general admission for the park is $50 for adults and $45 for children 3-9 as well as seniors 55 and older.
