Republican Reps. Daniel Perez and Chip LaMarca are holding a joint fundraiser for their Florida House reelection campaigns.
The reception will be held in Tallahassee Wednesday on the second floor of 106 East Jefferson Street, above the Tallahassee Visitors Center.
Supporters can get more information on the event by sending in an RSVP.
The fundraiser is notable because it shows there’s no bad blood between the two freshman lawmakers following the 2024-26 House Speaker race, which Perez won.
LaMarca, however, wasn’t one of the freshman in Perez’ camp during the behind-the-scenes leadership race according to sources familiar with the competition.
Still, the joint affair shows Perez is keeping good on the first clause of the promise he made to the 2018 Republican class shortly before locking up the race: That he would “not be vindictive to anyone on the team but yet be inclusive.”
As far as Perez’ and LaMarca’s reelection campaigns, both were faring well heading into October.
Perez, who represents House District 116, had about $61,000 in hard money at the end of September. Lone challenger Gabriela Maria De Jesus, a Democrat, had raised just $505 through four months in the race.
LaMarca, who represents House District 93, had $68,608 in his campaign account. His Democratic opponent, Linda Marie Thompson Gonzalez, has raised $4,775 and put another $30,000 of her own money into her campaign fund.
Both seats lean Republican.
