St. Pete City Council member Steve Kornell has officially declared he will run for a final term representing St. Pete residents in South St. Pete.
“It’s been an honor to serve our community” Kornell said, “I’m seeking re-election to a final term on City Council, because I want to continue the work we’ve started.”
Kornell submitted paperwork to the city clerk Monday. His campaign appears to be run by Tom Alte of Blue Ticket Consulting. Alte successfully ran Pinellas County Commissioner Pat Gerard’s campaign to defeat former State Representative Ed Hooper.
Kornell has been in office since 2009. He serves on the housing servies committee, public services and infrastructure committee, community development block grant committee and youth services committee as well as serving as the chair of the legislative affairs and intergovernmental relations committee and the Tampa Bay Estuary Program.
“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished during my time on Council,” Kornell said. “Our city is working together to attract new business, foster the arts, and deliver efficient services to our constituents.”
Kornell has been a social worker with Pinellas County Schools since 2005. Prior to that he worked for the St. Pete Parks and Recreation Department for 20 years.
