Elizabeth Porter files for re-election bid to Florida House

State Rep. Elizabeth Porter has filed this week to run for her fourth and final consecutive term in the Florida House in 2016, according to the Florida Division of Elections.

The Lake City Republican has faced little opposition since winning a 2010 rematch against former Democratic state Rep. Debbie Boyd, who represented the District 11 seat that now belongs to Porter, slightly altered after 2011 redistricting. She represents rural Baker, Columbia, Hamilton and Suwannee counties, as well as part of Alachua.

The move allows Porter to start a campaign account and raise contributions.

Porter so far faces an opponent in Suwannee County Republican Barbara Ann Price, who took 0.8 percent of the vote as a write-in in 2014.
