Florida Chamber poll: Ron DeSantis with solid leads over either Democratic opponent
Conflict for Governor, Commish.

DeSantis Fried 3.25.21
The poll also found the Governor with solid approval ratings.

A Florida Chamber of Commerce poll shows Gov. Ron DeSantis in position to win re-election against either major Democrat running.

Cherry Communications polled the Republican incumbent in hypothetical head-to-head matchups and found a slight majority of respondents favoring him regardless. Against Nikki Fried, DeSantis polls at 50% while she takes 43% of the vote.

In a DeSantis versus Charlie Crist matchup, the poll also found Crist polling at 43% but DeSantis coming in at 51%.

A poll released this week by the University of North Florida shows similar results. But most polls in the Real Clear Politics aggregate show Crist winning the Democratic Primary and doing the best against DeSantis.

Polling, including the Chamber and UNF polls, agree DeSantis holds a distinct advantage heading into the November General Election Cycle. And with results also showing likely voters bullish about the Florida economy compared to the nation as a whole, the findings suggest a fairly easy path to re-election for the Governor.

Cherry Communications polled 608 likely Florida voters between Aug. 4 and 15 through live phone interviews. Pollsters report a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

It’s likely little surprise that the poll shows DeSantis in a position of strength. The Chamber poll also found 54% approve of DeSantis’ job as Governor.

There are clear breaks along partisan lines. About 88% of Republicans like the job he is doing, compared to 52% of nonpartisans. A polling memo released by the chamber did not show Democratic sentiment, but simple math suggests a bulk do not approve and pull DeSantis’ overall approval rating down to the mid-50s.

Pollsters notably found DeSantis boasting particular strength with Hispanic respondents, with 65% approving of his job performance and just 32% disapproving.

Those numbers show greater popularity than Democratic President Joe Biden, something likely to factor into the Midterms. Almost 90% of Republicans and 62% of no-party voters disapprove of Biden’s performance, resulting in about a 60% net disapproval. Only about 34% of Hispanic voters give positive marks to the President.

I am a registered Democrat, but only because an independent will never win an election, not yet anyway. I do not vote strictly Democrat. I have chosen not to vote at all this term. Call me irresponsible, idc.
I was happy DeSantis the first quarter of his first term. Apparently he is a wolf in sheep clothing. The man is extremely far right. I wouldn’t vote for him ever again.
Charlie Crist was never my choice for Florida governor. The man has switched parties more than I change underwear (daily)
He will change his beliefs according to which party he can get a nomination from . He has been an independent, republican, and Democrat.
I don’t know much about Nikki fried, but will do my research, either way, I doubt she will win the election in November.
Therefore, I give up my right to vote this election, as
Far as I’m concerned, they are all losers, regardless of the outcome.

Without the crosstabs this is extremely dubious and quite surprisingly exactly the same as the previous Chamber poll, a year ago. We’ll have new polls after the primary next week and after $2,75 gas hits the market.

    • Impeach Biden

      August 19, 2022 at 7:58 am

$2.75 still higher than it was in Jan 2021. Corsin / Effen, Peter H, Mary Lou, it’s coming. KABOOM🤣

      • Elliott Offen

        August 19, 2022 at 8:16 am

Inflation is a world wide problem and coronavirus caused demand thus prices for gas to be very low for quite some time. And all you idiots have to say about Trumpflation is something about Joe and a pipeline? By God you apes should be euthanized for the sake of humanity.

We can talk about big city crime and the defund the police movement. Plenty to talk about. Now with respect to inflation, you and your cohorts would be screaming bloody murder if a Repub was running the country. Forty year high inflation, Biden and his administration will be eating it along with other screw ups come November. Get that bung hole ready. 🤣

Exactly. Can’t btch about gas prices unless oil and gas is nationalized and people vote for whoever controls that industry. The capitalists control the oil and gas industry…and they do whatever in the hell they want to. Can’t vote them out thanks to the GOP..who only gives them more power to gouge. Then blame it all on the Dems!!!

Just like women (all parties) rejected Kansas’ forced-birth amendment, Florida women will reject deDICKtator. Women don’t want the government interfering in their medical decisions, and are seeing the horrors that abortion bans are causing in other states: forced motherhood for 10 year olds, women forced to carry dead and dying fetuses (some without skulls and/or brains) for weeks because doctors will go to prison if they remove them, women denied arthritis and cancer medications because a woman or girl COULD become pregnant, etc.
Desantis is losing Trump voters, too, as they watch Ron betraying the guy who got him elected in the first place. Trumpers see Desantis campaigning all around the country, pushing Trump out of the way. Trumpers know the only chance Trump has for a second term is if Desantis loses in 2022. You will be surprised by how few vote for the Tiny Tyrant in November!

    • JOHN RANSOM

      August 20, 2022 at 7:54 am

You do know that FL allows abortions for any reason up to 15 weeks, right? And afterwards, it is allowed under certain circumstances.

This is even more liberal than what, say, France does.

      • marylou

        August 20, 2022 at 11:01 am

Desatan has already said he will “increase protections for life”. During 2018 debates he stated he will impose a six week ban. He signed an abortion ban at a church and talked about prayers being answered. He followed Catholic Church (4th coequal branch of Florida government) order to refuse contraceptives to poor women. A total ban is expected.

In Europe abortions and contraceptives are free/low cost, available. Childcare, universal preK, free health care, and other social supports are available. Uk and Europe abortion exceptions range from economic to woman’s mental health.

In US women are being denied abortions when their fetus has no brain or skull. 10 year old rape victims are being denied abortions. In Florida a 16 year old was just denied an abortion at 10 weeks —— because an appeals judge said she was “not mature enough “, and that she should try court again after thinking about an abortion. A Florida 17 year old was denied an abortion because of her GPA. This is what is going with abortion rights in Florida and US.
Even Republican fathers are switching to Democrat to save their children from the Republican monsters.

We’ve got a 16 yo girl (was 10 weeks), joined by her guardian ad litem suing to allow an abortion. She says she wants to finish high school and isnt prepared nor can she afford to raise a child.
The court is using her claimed immaturity as an excuse to tell her she cannot make the decision to have an abortion, she is too young to understand. So based on that case alone, Florida is not allowing abortions for any reason up to 15 weeks.
        https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/08/18/florida-16-year-old-denied-abortion/10356810002/

Go ahead and moralize, tell others how to live their lives, or take a few steps in this girl’s shoes. Or vacation in France if you like, but this is affecting people right here, right now.

‘babies”: A fertilized egg or fetus is no more a baby than a bowl of runny raw eggs is an omelet. Your “babies” are YOUR RELIGION!!! Keep it to yourself.

Most religions don’t believe what you do! Forced-birtherism is a new concept even for evangelical Christians, who as late as 1968, held a national conference at which they agreed that circumstances justifying abortion included, “family welfare, and social responsibility… the preservation of fetal life … may have to be abandoned to maintain full and secure family life.” Republican Protestants only started pushing “pro-life” in the 1970’s as a way to gain Catholic support for their party, amid the Sexual Revolution and the Feminist Movement—in other words: to Control newly Liberated Women. Even earlier, Benjamin Franklin published an abortion recipe in his textbook, read —and used— by women and girls in their homes. Forced-birtherism and fetal worship are new. Abortion is not.

The Florida economy is booming. Record low unemployment. Wages are increasing. And DeSantis saved countless thousands of small businesses that you loser Democrats were demanding be forcefully shut down for COVID.

I think it’s more likely the people you are talking with is purposely acting quiet and undecided because they dont want to get into a low-intelligence debate with a liberal. It’s exhausting. And considering the new Stasi police state you liberals are creating in Washington, it could be dangerous. Merrick Garland thinks parents speaking up at school board meetings are domestic terrorists.
