Ashley Moody ‘demands answers’ about Florida State playoff snub

Florida’s Attorney General wants more details on how the College Football Playoff committee decided to exclude unbeaten Florida State University (FSU) from its postseason tourney.

“The NCAA, the conferences and the College Football Playoff selection committee are subject to antitrust laws. We are launching an investigation to examine if the committee was involved in anti-competitive conduct in its unprecedented decision as it stands,” Ashley Moody said in a video filmed on FSU’s Tallahassee campus.

Moody’s Civil Investigation Demand seeks a voluminous amount of information about the selection process, including “communications relating to deliberations to or from the SEC, ACC, NCAA, ESPN, Group of Five conferences, Power Five conferences or any other person relating to the deliberations.”

Additionally, Moody’s office wants “all documents relating to public statements relating to the deliberations, including media talking points and interview notes,” and documents “relating to restrictions of the Conferences against having alternate playoff schedules” along with documents “showing compensation of members in 2023.”

“We are also seeking information about software or programs used to record or tally votes,” Moody said, noting that none of this will restore FSU to playoff status this year.

“This process won’t be quick, and unfortunately, we don’t expect it will change this season’s playoffs. But every college football program including the 13 Division I schools in Florida deserves to know if the committee is stacking the deck. I have faith in our antitrust division to get to the bottom of the matter and take appropriate action if warranted.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis has already pledged $1 million from the new state budget to sue the College Football Playoff committee, assuming that grounds for a legal challenge actually exist.

“If you think about the damages, being in that College Football Playoff versus being in the Orange Bowl is a big, big difference,” DeSantis said in Iowa last week.

I am a hardcore conservative Republican. I voted for Ashley Moody. It’s nonsense like this, and political stunts, that will cause me to vote for someone else. You need to get your head screwed on straight and start worrying about things that matter instead of this garbage.

The conservative snowflakes in Florida once again want to get government involved in something when they get upset at other people practicing their freedom. Florida St. is not entitled to a championship game, but conservative believe its okay to waste tax dollars because of their feelings. What a s***hole.

This is a waste of money. FSU is no longer a top-four team without its elite 1st string QB. NCAA has left out undefeated teams before and this year must have been the toughest since they went to four teams. FSU could have made the playoffs by better performances against UF and Louisville. If FSU’s backups had been winning by 30 “style” points in those two games then the committee would have had good reason to believe FSU was still competitive with the other top four teams. Instead, FSU’s offense looked anemic and was losing to “5-win” UF late in the third quarter. UF even in a loss did enough in that game to effectively end FSU’s season. Add to that FSU would be below Washington in odds to win a game in the playoffs. Add to that FSU only played two ranked teams all season, LSU 13 and Louisville 16. Strength of schedule has always been a major component and the NCAA doesn’t want teams making weak schedules to protect playoff hopes. Add to that the ACC was the conference that delayed expanding to twelve teams. It stinks for FSU, but this was not their season. If they look in the mirror they do know why. It should not be lost that if FSU could win against Georgia there is a chance they would get a split National Championship. Please don’t waste the money, we are already going to twelve games next season.

FSU needs to get out in the market and get a good QB to transfer in.

And, as the Gators frequently said over the years, “Wait until next year.”

There’s no better way to demonstrate one’s own ineffectiveness than making demands of folks you have zero control over. Tell your kids to do stuff, they have to listen. Tell the NCAA they have to stuff, you just gonna look really really stoopid.
