Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer says he won’t resign despite pressure from some in his party after he voted to proceed with a Republican spending bill that avoided a government shutdown.
“Look, I’m not stepping down,” Schumer said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” that aired Sunday. The New York senator said he knew voting for the bill backed by Republican President Donald Trump would spark “a lot of controversy.”
“I did it out of pure conviction as to what a leader should do and what the right thing for America and my party was,” he said. “People disagree.”
Last week, Democrats faced two painful options: allowing passage of a bill they believe gave Trump vast discretion on spending decisions or letting funding lapse. After Schumer said he’d vote to advance the spending measure, 10 Democrats supported breaking the party’s filibuster and allowing the bill to pass.
Schumer’s move has sparked outrage from some Democrats and progressive activists, who protested at his office and called on him to resign. They said they’d like to see him face a Primary challenge — perhaps from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The uproar prompted Schumer to postpone his book tour last week amid a series of planned progressive demonstrations.
Schumer told NBC that the spending bill that funds the government through September was “certainly bad.” But he argued that not voting to provide the funding would have been “15 or 20 times worse.” He called his action “a vote of principle,” arguing that “sometimes when you’re a leader, you have to do things to avoid a real danger that might come down the curve.”
“I don’t want to talk about inside-the-beltway stuff,” Sanders said.

This is the nature of politics: bad choices made for good reasons. Schumer deserves a lot of credit for putting his country ahead of his party. How many times in the past two months have Democrats demanded Republicans put their country ahead of their party? Now it is their turn, and the screaming resounds from sea to shining sea. The election of Donald Trump has had many benefits for America, and among the most important of them is this: the reaction of the Democrats, particularly the left, has shown how utterly bereft of character and honesty they are.
Bolsheviks.

” … HOW UTTERLY BEREFT OF CHARACTER AND HONESTY THEY ARE. /// BOLSHEVIKS. … ”
Character assassination does not “move the ball”, Bro. A little hyperbole now and then can be amusing, but you’re beyond that.

That phrase, “utterly bereft of character and honesty,” is so ironic you should be choking on it. No one in America is more “utterly bereft of character and honesty” than Donald Trump, the fascist.

I hope AOC takes on Chucky for his senate job. It would be a laugh a minute. Maybe we could get Kammy back in there too. Dumb and Dumber part two.🤣

As usual, you reveal that you have a huge problem with intelligent women of color. And as always, your use of phrases like “laugh a minute” and “Dumb and Dumber” reveal that you want so badly to believe you are superior to these women, so superior that you “laugh” at them, when in fact you are ( or at least write like) a petty little man who utterly lacks any real sense of humor or self-awareness.

Neither one of the two is intelligent. I have given many examples of Kammy. Let’s look at AOC. We are now halfway to her prediction that the world is going to end. How many pieces of legislation has she gotten passed in the house? Should I bring up her idiotic plan to run off Bezos and Amazon to NYC? How many jobs and how much lost tax revenue? Like I said those two dummies are perfect together. 🤣

Breaking News: Democrats like word salad. Kammy is your #1 candidate for 2028. Go Kammy Go. Maybe Oprah will cheer her on for free this time. 🤣
