Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Orange County Republican Party Chair Erin Huntley to serve on the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Board of Trustees.
The selection comes as the Governor also reappointed Edward Pozzuoli and Linda Reiter to the Board.
Huntley joins the Board as she is also running in House District 45 this cycle, aiming to flip a seat held by Rep. Leonard Spencer, a Gotha Democrat.
“I am grateful to have the trust of Gov. DeSantis to help shape the future of education in our state,” Huntley said in a statement following the Governor’s appointment.
“As a mom of three and someone deeply committed to expanding educational opportunity, I understand how vital it is that families have access to high-quality virtual learning options. I look forward to bringing that perspective to the Florida Virtual School Board of Trustees and helping ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed.”
FLVS was established in 1997 and offers nearly 200 online courses for students across the state. The seven-person Board oversees the operation of the FLVS.
Huntley also serves as the Chair of Chairs for the Republican Party of Florida and is a member of the Florida Association of Distributive Education Clubs of America Board of Advisors. She has also worked in the private sector, including at Walt Disney Parks, JetBlue Airways and DECA Inc.
The HD 45 contest could be the most-watched legislative race of the 2026 cycle, with Spencer being the only current Florida House Democrat representing a district where Donald Trump outperformed Kamala Harris in 2024.
Huntley has gotten off to a strong start, raising six figures in the first quarter and ending the reporting period with more than $145,000 between her campaign account and political committee, Conservative Solutions for Florida.
Pozzuoli, meanwhile, is the CEO and Director of Tripp Scott Law Firm. Reiter works as a deaf and hard of hearing specialist, previously teaching such students in Miami-Dade County Schools.
