Florida Politics reported first that Angela Corey filed for re-election at the end of last month.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacksonville Landing, Corey will officially announce her bid for a third term as 4th Circuit State Attorney, as a short email states.
“Since filing on Thursday, May 28, 2015, we have received many inquiries. Therefore, I will be at the Jacksonville Landing in the courtyard at 6 p.m. on June 2, 2015 to make a formal announcement seeking re-election and to answer any questions,”
Corey has received her share of criticism from local and national media sources for her handling of various high-profile cases through the years. However, she has many staunch defenders who laud her as a victim advocate without peer.
With the entire GOP establishment supporting her against dark-horse candidate Wes White, it’s hard to see how she loses. At last count, White had raised less than $10,000, suggesting he will have to rely on earned media to make his case to unseat one of the most powerful and savvy politicians in the northern part of Florida.
