Lenny Curry spox Bill Spann resigns from Duval Republican Executive Committee

Bill Spann

Many of the major hires have been made by the Lenny Curry administration, and the only prominent name from the local GOP so far was Bill Spann, an REC member and a party officer.

As of midnight Tuesday, Spann will no longer be Duval Republican Executive Committee Secretary.

As he writes to Party Chairman Robin Lumb, Spann has “accepted a position in the Lenny Curry Administration which will preclude my continued service in this role.”

Spann leaves with no acrimony; in the letter, he states that he has “been impressed with both the leadership of the REC and the dedication of our members,” who “truly represent Duval County’s best and brightest.”

In a prepared statement, Spann explained his move: “I work for the duly elected mayor of Jacksonville and he, while a proud Republican, now serves all of Jacksonville’s people.”
Spann replaced Kim Crenier in December 2014 as party secretary.
