Gov. Rick Scott announced the selection of Palmetto attorney Teresa “Teri” Kaklis Dees on Thursday to the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, which covers DeSoto, Manatee, and Sarasota Counties.
Dees, 43, has been a partner at the law office of Weiffenbach & Kaklis since 1997. Previously, she was an associate with the law office of John F. Pitcher.
According to her bio, Dees specializes primarily in the area of family law, handling more than 1,000 cases related to divorce, paternity, child parenting disputes, domestic violence injunctions, and spousal support.
“Teri brings years of legal experience to the 12th Circuit Court bench,” Scott said. “I know she will continue to serve Florida families honorably.”
Dees received her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Lee E. Haworth.
