The never ending saga of Raymond Johnson, a Jacksonville Republican operative who has made news most recently for planning a celebration of the Confederate flag, continues to devolve in a remarkably public fashion.
Johnson, a self-described political consultant, likely will be plying his trade outside of the constraints of the Republican Party of Duval County soon, if his Friday Facebook post is any indication.
Referring to the “Republican establishment Nazis after” him for “not sitting down shutting up and going along with politically correctness [SIC SIC SIC and SIC], gaining to much power and media [SIC],” Johnson frames the Duval GOP establishment as wanting to remove his “membership from their corrupt body.”
Johnson bills himself as a “political consultant,” yet many social conservatives describe his role more as a “paid doorknocker.” His recent machinations against Duval GOP Chair candidate Jack Webb have, according to even those who are opposed to Webb’s candidacy for a variety of reasons, actually made the former Jacksonville City Councilman a more sympathetic figure than he otherwise might have been.
The Duval GOP has yet to respond to this latest screed from Johnson; it’s hard to imagine that their response will be a positive one.
