John Guns, Lenny Curry to “ride” once more

John Guns

The symbiotic political relationship between Bishop John Guns and Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry continues, with a Wednesday morning press conference set to begin the “One City, One Jacksonville Leadership Week for Young Men.”

The week precedes the new school year, encompassing Aug. 17 through 21.

Guns’ organization Operation Save Our Sons will collaborate with the Jacksonville Sheriff Office, the Mayor’s Office, Duval County Public Schools, and other stakeholders in what is being called a one-week “leadership academy” for 100 teenage boys from the urban core.

The week, according to the news release, will be “interactive, educational, and motivational.”

A shared priority of  Curry and  Guns has been to find a way to reach at-risk youth, and the week will allow them, and other interested stakeholders, to begin that outreach before the beginning of the new school year.

Florida Politics will attend to ask questions about the event and goals for the upcoming school year.
