Business and energy leaders from around the United States will converge on Jacksonville from October 14 through the 16th, for the Florida Energy Summit.

The JAX Chamber will host the summit in coordination with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Energy conservation and resource diversification will be discussed.

“As the nation’s third largest consumer of energy, it is imperative that Florida’s energy policy creates an environment that fosters the development of affordable, clean energy sources to meet our state’s long- term needs,” said Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

Putnam added that this summit will move Florida closer to its energy goals.

“The opportunity to host this summit is really a credit to the efforts made by local businesses and officials to build in the energy space here in Northeast Florida,” said Alan Mosley, executive director of JAX Alliance and vice president of Transportation, Logistics and Energy for JAX Chamber.

“Jacksonville is excited to host the industry’s best and brightest here in Jacksonville to have forward-thinking conversation about the future of energy in our state,” Mosley added, citing Jacksonville as “the launch point for [the] introduction of alternative fuels in Northeast Florida.”

Natural Gas and the Clean Fuels Initiative will be among the topics.

“Northeast Florida is helping drive the conversation on energy, not just in Florida but in the entire Southeast,” JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis said. “We look forward to a first-class event and substantive discussions about Florida’s energy market and the economic opportunities we can capitalize on to grow jobs in our state.”
