Rick Scott announces 15 board appointments

On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott announced 15 appointments and reappointments to a variety of state boards.

Florida Virtual School Board of Trustees

Scott began by announcing one appointment and two reappointments to the Florida Virtual School Board of Trustees. FLVS is the nation’s largest online state public school

Robert Saltsman 62, of Winter Park, is an attorney and certified public accountant with Saltsman, Charlton & Associates P.A. He succeeds Tammie Nemecek for a term ending September 10, 2018.

Brian Cunningham, 53, of Fort Lauderdale, is the President of J Strategies. He is reappointed for a term ending September 10, 2019.

Linda Pellegrini, 66, of Windermere, is the President of Pellegrini homes. She is reappointed for a term September 10, 2019.

 Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County

Next, Scott announced the appointment of Robert Bell to the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County.

Bell, 48, of Palmetto, is the owner of RM Bell Services LLC and currently serves as a commissioner for the North River Fire District. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending April 30, 2018.

Correctional Medical Authority

Scott then named Dr. Michael Adu-Tutu to the State of Florida Correctional Medical Authority, which oversees delivery of cost-effective health care to inmates in the Florida Department of Corrections.

Adu-Tutu, 63, of Port Saint Lucie, is a dentist for the Florida Department of Health in Saint Lucie. He fills a vacant seat for a term ending July 1, 2016.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Concrete Masonry Education Council

Scott announced one appointment and four reappointments to the Florida Concrete Masonry Education Council, a committee created to bring together masonry manufacturers and contractors for training, education, outreach programs, sustainability and economic benefits of concrete masonry products.

Michele Stropoli, 49, of Orlando, is the executive director of FICAP. She succeeds Matthew Sitter for a term ending June 30, 2018.

Kenneth “Justin” Lord, 35, of Fort Lauderdale, is president and chief executive officer of Central Broward Construction. He is reappointed for a term ending June 30, 2018.

Troy Maschmeyer, 60, of Palm Beach, is president and chief executive officer of Maschmeyer Concrete Company of Florida. He is reappointed for a term ending June 30, 2018.

Antonio Obregon, 44, of Boca Raton, is the president and chief executive officer of Formrite Construction LLC. He is reappointed for a term ending June 30, 2018.

Charles “Preston” Sparkman, 59, of Plant City, is the vice president of sales with Quality Precast Company. He is reappointed for a term ending June 30, 2018.

National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws

Scott made one appointment and two reappointments to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, which provides states with non-partisan, well-conceived, and well drafted legislation to state statutory law.

State Rep. Larry Metz, 60, of Yalaha, is the owner of Metz Law Firm P.A. represents District 32 in the Florida House. He succeeds Louis Conti for a term ending June 5, 2019.

Randolph Braccialarghe, 67, of Plantation, is a law professor with the Nova Southeastern University College of Law. He is reappointed for a term ending June 5, 2019.

Donald Weidner, 70, of Tallahassee, is the dean of the Florida State University College of Law. He is reappointed for a term ending June 5, 2019.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Early Learning Coalition of Orange County

Scott also named Lourdes Mola to the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County.

Mola, 45, of Orlando, is founder and president of Lourdes Mola Solutions. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending April 30, 2016.

Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County

Lastly, Scott appointed Luke Buzard to the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County.

Buzard, 35, of Wesley Chapel, is the audit services director at TECO. Previously he served as chair of both the Accounting Circle at University of South Florida and the West Central Region for Connect Florida. Buzzard is appointed to a vacant seat for a term ending April 30, 2016.
