For months, a variety of keynote speakers were advanced as possibilities for Jacksonville’s 29th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Breakfast on Jan. 15.
On Wednesday morning, thecity of Jacksonville said Sampson Davis will fill that role.
Davis, described as “a highly skilled emergency medicine physician, New York Times best-selling author, and frequent medical expert on ‘TODAY’ and CNN” by the media release, will be keynote speaker.
This will be the first MLK breakfast for Lenny Curry as mayor. He had a brief statement about King’s legacy.
“I am so proud to live in such a culturally diverse and rich city like Jacksonville,” Curry said. “Dr. King undoubtedly played a pivotal role in helping our nation recognize the value each and every one of us brings to our community. It is an honor to celebrate his leadership and service.”
