Florida voters’ top concern is job creation and an improving the economy, found a new poll by the Florida Chamber Political Institute released Wednesday.
The poll was released in conjunction with the annual Florida Chamber Capitol Days.
“This poll clearly shows that voters, like the Florida Chamber, agree that good jobs for everyone is a top priority,” said Marian Johnson, senior vice president of policy strategy of the Florida Chamber, in a news release. “And, in a state where one in every 11 U.S. jobs is created in Florida, the margin of voters concerned about jobs and the economy will likely continue to increase.”
The Florida Chamber Political Institute poll was conducted from Jan. 4 through Jan. 7. The poll interviewed 711 frequent voters using both land and cell lines.
The poll found 15 percent of respondents said education was a top concern for them; while 9 percent said health care was a top concern.
The poll found that 44 percent of respondents said Florida is headed in the right direction, while 34 percent said the state is headed in the wrong direction.
The latest FCPI poll found 53 percent of voters oppose gambling in Florida. It also found that, if the election were held tomorrow, the medical marijuana amendment would pass, with 74 percent of voters saying they favored the amendment.
