Schoolchildren from Changwon City, South Korea, got to watch Bill Gulliford sign a letter of support for Lori Boyer‘s Jacksonville City Council President bid Friday.
The South Korean youngsters were in Jacksonville as part of the Sister Cities program, and got a taste of Democracy as practiced in the Bold New City of the South.
Before signing the letter, Gulliford compared his visage to that of the Andrew Jackson painting in the particular conference room.
Yes, the Beaches Councilman does bear a resemblance to Old Hickory, for those curious.
“I am going to endorse,” Gulliford said. “I am supporting [Boyer] by signing the letter.”
“Does everybody understand that?”
Gulliford’s question, though likely intended for the youngsters, may have been intended for the media on hand.
The veteran councilman told those in the room that he has been to Korea twice, and that he particularly enjoyed his trip to Gyeongju and Inchon.
From there, the youth group got to tour Council chambers, where they were to be allowed to sit on the dais and push buttons … something that a council member or two may have had trouble with the first time out.
