Lenny Curry PAC money swells Travis Cummings’ campaign coffers in January

Travis Cummings has had bigger fundraising hauls than he had in January, yet the HD 18 Republican incumbent is likely still smiling.

$8,150 of new money pushes Cummings over $187,000, against just under $47,000 spent.

Build Something that Lasts, the Lenny Curry PAC, maxed out for Cummings, the original House sponsor of the “discretionary sales surtax” bill, which is intended to authorize a referendum in Jacksonville allowing an extension of the Better Jacksonville Plan sales tax to address the city’s $2.6 Billion unfunded pension liability.

Also maxing out: W.W. Gay, the Jacksonville contractor who is a regular feature on the fundraising sheets of right-leaning candidates and causes.

Cummings’ opponent, Libertarian Ken Willey, doesn’t concern himself with fundraising; through six filings, his motto has been “no money? No problem!”
