The Hillary Clinton campaign headquarters opens in Jacksonville at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 4830 Atlantic Blvd., and for Clinton partisans locally, it’s a big deal.
Speaking will be School Board Member Paula Wright.
“Hillary Clinton has fought her entire life for children and working families – and knows how to get results,” Wright said. “She has a proven record of breaking down all the barriers that hold people back, including fighting for racial justice and gender equality. That’s why I’m committed to helping Hillary build on President Obama‘s legacy by electing her the next president.”
Though many of Clinton’s local endorsers are in Tallahassee, some have offered support.
“I am pleased to lend my support to Hillary Clinton,” said House Democratic Leader Pro Tempore Mia Jones.
“For years as a first lady, senator and Secretary of State, Hillary has championed the cause of both women’s and human rights issues,” Jones said. “As president, Hillary will continue to move our country forward. It will be my pleasure to secure Florida for Clinton.”
Lisa King, regional lead in the Northeast Florida market, said the team is “overwhelmed with the outpouring of volunteer support for Secretary Clinton since the fall. Our volunteers have made thousands of phone calls that will insure Duval brings Florida in for Hillary Clinton on March 15.”
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders partisans expect to have a headquarters lined up later this month.
