Democrat Val Demings has received the endorsement of the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers in her campaign for the Democratic nomination in Congressional District 10.
“Our thousand-plus members throughout Central Florida deserve a leader committed to supporting our mission to not only put people to work, but keeping workers employed at good and fair paying jobs in the skilled craft trades,” Bob Carr, IBEW Local 606 business manager, stated in a news release. “We believe that leader is Val Demings.”
Demings is in a race with state Sen. Geraldine Thompson of Orlando, former Florida Democratic Party Chairman Bob Poe and attorney Fatima Rita Fahmy. There are no Republicans running in the district, since redistricting redrew it as heavily Democratic, and incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster of Winter Garden decided to run in Congressional District 11 instead.
“I stand with IBEW in our shared belief that every member of a union should receive the hard earned benefits they have worked for,” Demings stated in the release.
